Essential Cattle Bolus

When discussing health plans with farmers there are a number of red flag issues which may well be signs of trace element deficiency, beware of any of the below and use the Essential bolus range to your advantage.

• Low Copper can lead to reduced growth, depressed immunity and poor reproductive performance, untreated anaemia, lameness, scouring and even death can follow. Beware of farms with high levels of molybdenum or other heavy metals in forage that can lock up copper availability.

• Low Iodine can cause reduced fertility, poor weight gain and ill thrift also late abortions, still birth, floppy calves, perinatal mortality, reduced colostrum and milk quality as well as metabolic disorders and increased susceptibility to disease and parasitism.

• Low Selenium can cause white muscle disease, increased incidence of still birth and reduced fertility. Intricate in the development of the immune system and response to vaccination low selenium reduces calf health and vigour.

• Low Cobalt depresses appetite and generally manifests as signs of ill thrift, cobalt is essential for the synthesis of B12 and metabolism of forage. Beware of confusing physical signs of cobalt with other issues such as parasites.
