Animal Health Planning

A goal without a plan is just a wish

British livestock farmers already function to world leading animal welfare standards, and for decades have recorded the health and performance of their stock in a system tailored to their own farm requirements. However since the introduction of Farm Assurance Schemes these world class standards and detailed records now have to be collated and presented for assessment.

For over a decade McCaskie Agriculture has been at the forefront of providing concise detailed health plans to our customers. Through regular contact with LRQA Food Safety Assurance we strive to ensure our health plans meet the current required standards for both Quality Meat Scotland (QMS) and The Red Tractor Farm Assurance Schemes. The McCaskie Health Plan is completed by the customer in conjunction with one of our fully trained and qualified Animal Health Advisors.

Their training and qualifications through the Animal Medicines Training and Regularity Authority (AMTRA) ensures they have the necessary expertise and skills to advise farmers on their animal health requirements. This collaborative approach means we are able to produce a detailed annual health plan designed to prioritise animal health and welfare, while also ensuring our customers meet their regularity requirements.

The McCaskie Health Plan has been developed to include:

  • Farm details

  • Biosecurity

  • Disease management

  • Drug resistance plan

  • Cattle and flock yearly health planner

  • Mastitis management

  • Milking equipment services

  • Milking routines

  • Health routines and veterinary related tasks

  • Records and training

  • Health and performance reviews for dairy, beef and sheep

  • Contingency plan

  • MSDS

  • Pest control and spraying Info

The McCaskie Health plan is now recognised by customers in Scotland as an important piece of documentation for Farm Assurance Inspections, but it is far more than this. Through the completion and use of this plan, health and welfare issues can be brought to light and recommendations put into place to help our customers maximise production and contain costs.
